2014 Quidditch World Cup – New Magical Creatures

If you’re a member of Pottermore, you may have noticed that JK Rowling has been writing “live coverage” reports of the 2014 Quidditch World Cup (as Ginny Potter for the Daily Prophet, with quotes from Magizoologist Rolf Scamander, Newt’s grandson).

If you’ve signed in, you can go straight to this page to read the full Daily Prophet entry!

In it, we find out about four new (to us!) magical creatures from around the world, which are:

Dukuwaqa – A shapeshifter that can transform from shark to man. It lives in warm ocean & is a native of Fiji.

Selma – A gigantic lake serpent that devours both human flesh and fish. It resides in the icy, freshwater lakes of Norway.

Curupiras – Red-haired, forest-dwelling dwarves whose feet point backwards & who protect fellow creatures whom they feel are under threat from humans. Native of Brazil.

Sasabonsans – Nigerian, vampiric, spindle-legged creatures.
