Thanks to IGN we have another small interview with David Heyman about Fantastic Beasts!
Here’s what he had to say:
Harry Potter producer David Heyman has been doing the publicity rounds for his new film Paddington, but he’s also busy prepping Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
So once we’d finished chatting with Heyman about the bear from darkest Peru, we asked why he was returning to the Potter universe…
“Because Jo Rowling has written a script that’s sublime” he explained. “It’s funny, it’s vivid, it’s exciting. It’s filled with all the hallmarks of her incredible imagination.”
As for why Rowling is writing the film having never scripted a previous Potter feature, Heyman said “I don’t know – ask her. She wrote the books on those so she probably didn’t feel the need. With this there was a slim volume which is more like an Encycolpedia than it is anything else… so she decided to write the script and she’s done a brilliant job. “
Finally, we asked Heyman to pick his favourite Fantastic Beast: “I like the Niffler” he explained. “Actually I like an awful lot of them. I don’t think there will be room in the film for all of them but we’ll find room for a few.”
David Yates – who directed the final four Potter features – will helm Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with the film due to hit in late 2016.
Considering the Warner Bros Studio Tour has started selling small Niffler toys, it seems highly likely that they’ll be making an appearance!
